Hey lads you are all putting next years gang under severe pressure. Really well done to one and all. Looking at the photos the crack looked mighty. Really feel for Shane who is flying this year, but maybe a handy spin to visit the folks next year and do Tenby in Wales would sort it out. Slatts I want the make of those shoes. And Ger , you did make it happen!! Hey Martin after your spin on the high Nellies why dont you organise an event whre the bikes have to weigh a minimum of 15kgs? Still dizzy looking at those times well done.

Yea well done lads some going by you all. Really hard luck on Shane.

Brian I hope you kept the runners you got a loan of, running times like that. Gavin I'm very surprised you didn't do more in depth research on your accommodation and Helen it looks like you might be getting a nice family holiday somewhere next year since there is a bit of unfinished business to attend to, I hear Austria in July is quite nice. Well done again lads.

Well done to all the lads in Regensberg yesterday. All the hard work and training paid off as they all had brilliant results.

Scadding, Shane 62/5/-- 44/40-44 01:01:02 04:28:48 00:00:00 00:00:00

There were a few mishaps & funny stories along the way, I'm sure the lads will fill us in when they get back. A few that I know of are;
*The organisers lost Brian's bag for T2 so, after wasting loads of time looking for it during the race, they had to give him a loan of a pair of runners to do the run with. (When he want back to collect this bike and everything else, they have also lost his helmet!)
*Obviously the big mishap was Shane's broken spoke which caused his wheel to buckle so he could not continue with the race..
*Stephens shin splints came back to haunt him on the latter part of the run..
*Ger took a wrong turn on the last lap of the run and ended up running up the finish chute (to the cheer of all the lads) before realising his mistake and had to turn around and go back..
*Seamus had to borrow Martin K's bike for the race (even tough there is about 5" height difference between them!) as his own bike frame cracked about 2 weeks before the race)
*Most of the lads relied on "Quinlan Travel" to book their accomdation & they ended up in sub standard apartments (terms used to describe it have been "dive" & "shoebox"), miles away from anywhere... Shane slept on the matress on the floor as it was more comfortable, Stephen did not have his en-suite that he is used to Smile
*Martin K & Dots provided huge support and entertainment along the course, they hired a tandem bike the day before the race to go out about 25k and put road markings on the cycle course. On the day of the race, they hired high nelly bikes...
*Also great support from Pauline, Celine, Rosin and Noel Ryan's family Emma, Frank & Michelle.

Disaster for Shane! He just rang me from the side of the road (on some ladies phone) his spoke has broken and he's been waiting for ages for a service vehicle.. if they can fix it he wil carry on. If not....

(Had just gone past Trans. on his 2nd lap)

They all swam great and are moving well on the bikes so far. 52.35 from Stephen is an unreal swim.

Well, they are on their way by now. After slapping on the P20 sunscreen at 4.30am this morn, they got Taxi's to Transtion at 4.45am. They had to get shuttle bus from Trans. to swim start as its about 10k away. It was lashing rain by 5.30am but it had stopped by the time the race started.

All are calm.

Stephen Doyle had excellent swim to exit water in 52.35.

You can track them all here http://ironmanlive.com/tracking.php?race=regensburg&year=2011

(if you put in IRL as country and leave everything else blank you can see them all together)

Swim times
Stephen Doyle 52.35
Shane Scadding 1.01.02
Emmet Kelly 1.01.24
Marc O'Cathasaigh 1.05.35
Barry Lambe 1.07.45
Gavin Quinlan 1.08.58
Noel Ryan 1.09.01
Seamus Doyle 1.09.11
Brian Slattery 1.13.45
Ger Hearne 1.21.28

Blistering paces on the bike so far. Shane avg. 42.84km p/hr for the first 8k.
