That's more mesmerising than watching fish swim in a tank Smile

Well Done Stephen! 19miles of pool swimming is no easy feat. Hope you're recovered after it.

only made it to mile 19 before the chlorine and extremely sick stomach forced me to stop..started off at just under 24 minute miles, finished at around 26 mins..annoyed it was the external factors that killed me and not the swimming, but thats part of the whole experience i guess..face is still stinging away, looks like stefan wasn't lying about the whole loosing skin ha..
Thanks for all the support before and during..

thanks guys..pretty much during open hours (until 6pm sat then from 9am to 2.30pm on sunday) people are allowed in to have a look-see..bring flip flops or something if u want to come out on deck..i should be swimming for roughly 1st half hour then resting till start of the next one..thanks for all the words of encouragement so far Cool

Ugghh! That's a horrible thought. They will all be coming out with new pink skin like babies...

I just spoke to Stephen and he said that anyone can drop in (not just members) during opening hours (it closes at 6pm on Sat. and re-opens at 9am on Sun. morn) to have a look and wish him luck. Just bring some flip flops or pool shoes.

Yes good luck Stephen. Probably best to avoid the pool for a few days next week - I hear that a large amount of skin will be shed during the 24 hrs Rolling Eyes

Best of Luck to Stephen D. this weekend when he takes on that horrible thought of doing 24mile swim in 24hours. He will be starting in Kingfisher at 3pm tomorrow (Sat.) and starting each mile on the hour, every hour, (all through the night!!) till his last hour at 2pm on Sunday afternoon.

Not sure if non-Kingfisher members are allowed in to offer encouragement (Stephen might let us know...) but any Kingfisher members should make an effort to pop in at some stage (during opening hours) to see how he's getting on.

24 miles in 24 hours

Post by steve on Thu Mar 31, 2011 8:17 am

Inspired by the (www.2swim4life.com) swim, there a 7 of us planning a similar charity event to raise money for GOAL (www.goal.ie). Our objective is to swim 24 miles in 24 hours. You swim a mile (1609m) starting on the hour, and rest for the remainder of the hour, then swim the next mile at the start of the next hour and simply repeat 24 times.

Kingfisher in Waterford have kindly agreed to keep the place running for us for the full duration.

We are starting the swim @ 3pm Saturday 16th April, and swimming right through to 3pm on Sunday.

Please come along if you want to give us some encouragement or are just passing by.
I will be catching everyone i can with my sponsorship card so please don't run away if you see me coming over the next few weeks Very Happy
